Q&A: Selecting Project Tools
What should we consider in selecting a project management tool?
There is a dizzying array of project management tools with a wide variety of features, so selecting a tool for your organization or team can be challenging. A few things to consider when selecting a tool:
How often will the tool be used? Is it for one large project or multiple projects, or for one core team or several departments? With a larger group of users or when some users will only rarely engage with the tool, ease of adoption and availability of training and support become more critical.
What will be the primary use? Will it be used mostly for planning, task management, progress tracking, team communication, or reporting? Most project management tools offer some level of functionality in all of these areas but they often really shine in just one or two areas. Request demos focused on your core need and with use cases from similar organizations or projects.
How well goes the tool integrate with other tools or systems? If your project work involves many other tools or you want to rely on existing communication channels (like email or chat), select a tool that more easily integrates with your other systems.
