The short answer? Probably.
Especially if it:
Is time-bound or temporary.
Creates something unique or new.
Isn’t a regular or existing part of your operations, programs, or services.
For most mission-driven organizations, projects involve creating or implementing something new - a new system, program, service, or way of working. Projects are often tied to a strategic initiative or critical need or to grant or special funding (although our project deliverables may eventually become a sustainable part of our regular operations). And projects usually require that we create buy-in and inspire collaboration and action from diverse teams of staff, leaders, clients, users, partners, donors, and community members.
Projects in mission-driven organizations are as varied as the communities and missions they serve, but common types of projects include:
Developing or piloting new services or programs
Pursuing or implementing grant funding
Technology/System implementations or upgrades
Special events or campaigns
Organizational development or restructuring
Program assessments or improvements
Gathering user/client/stakeholder input
Process improvements
Research initiatives
Design Thinking/Problem Solving
Exploring and building partnerships
Training programs and capacity building
Renovations/Space Upgrades
