Q&A: Project Check-ins
How should I structure check-ins with my project team?
Check-ins are a critical tool in a project manager’s toolbox. They help us encourage and motivate our teams and anticipate challenges and delays.
There are so many templates for structuring check-ins, but most follow a pattern of discussing the present (What are you working on? What is working well?), any challenges (What isn’t working well? What obstacles are you encountering?), and the future (What will you work on next? What actions should we take?).
Some creative ideas include discussing “Roses, Thorns, and Buds” or “Wins, Hurdles, and Next Race.”
